Our consultant occupied the role of OEM Strategic Purchasing Manager while at 3COM Corporation. This position gave him ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the performance of the company’s Taiwanese suppliers. Our expert successfully managed the relationship between 3COM and their six main suppliers in the Far East, with an annual spend totalling ~$80m. While in this role, our expert also continually drove down the product cost also achieved continual reductions in product costs on a quarterly basis. Finally, our expert effectively designed and implemented a ‘request for quotation’ process in order to maintain the integrity of each party involved in the company’s supply chain.

At the time of our expert’s involvement, Australian Coal Technologies was playing a major role in advanced engineering and design of coal processing plants with 3 plants being design and build for final installation in PR China. Our expert played a key part in delivering an AUS$25M Project on behalf of ACT. While at Marconi Networks, TBx Consulting’s expert assumed the role of UK Materials Director and was responsible for the telecommunications supply, supporting a £2.5 billion turnover business line while taking control of the spend budget, which was in the region of £1 billion. While in this role our expert delivered cost reductions with material supplier on multi-million pound contracts, saving £160m across UK, Europe and Far Eastern vendors and oversaw European inventory management, logistics and materials selection, achieving a reduction on projected inventory of £700m within 9 months, by using deferment, order cancellation and disposal/vendor management programmes.

As Purchasing and Supply Manager our expert was requested to improve the processes and cost effectiveness of the procurement department. He was directly responsible for contracts worth $100m, a department budget of £250k, and company expenditure of $500m. This position also involved managing a team of planners and buyers, developing demand plans, ensuring supply-met demand and negotiating supply contracts for a wide range of goods and services (including production materials, facilities outsourced third party goods and marketing materials).

TBx Consulting’s expert occupied the role of Project Manager at SAFRAN SA. During their time in this position, our expert enjoyed progression within this high-technology group, organised in 4 branches, namely: Aerospace Propulsion, Aircraft Equipment, Defence Security and Communications. He successfully coordinated the delivery of a 3G laser and infrared sighting system, which included the development of associated industrial partnerships and pricing strategies, international contract management (from development through to acceptance) and Incoterms management. He also provided leadership, motivation and strategic direction to around 50 people as Business Line Manager within SAFRAN’s defence opto-electronics activity, coordinated the restructuring of X Ray / REOSC Defence activities and led issues concerning export control (NATO – US – EU).

As EMEA Supply Chain and Operations Manager, TBx Consulting Ltd’s expert’s main responsibilities were for the sub-contract spend (£140m), demand planning and the Supply Chain organisation, which in turn supported a $1.4 billion Data network business. By rationalising 5 separate business units into 2 new business lines our expert turned what amounted to a 25% loss into a 15% profit, largely by increasing revenue by 60%. Likewise, non-profitable business units were closed and the organisation re-structured to meet the new business requirements, while new systems, processes and procedures were introduced. Our expert was also responsible for managing supply supporting revenue streams ($1.4 billion) for various business lines in conjunction with regional sales groups, order management and manufacturing operations.
